I started our low budget aquaponics system about 9 months ago with a cheap inflatable kiddie pool in the basement of our northern Illinois home to keep the goldfish from our small backyard pond alive over the winter. I bought a mortar mixing tray for grow bed and some fluorescent light fixtures and off we went. We added a 150 gallon stock tank when the kiddie pool started to stretch dangerously from the weight of the water and upgraded to a bell siphon design I found on the internet the second time the grow bed drain clogged. I added a second tank and, with the Shubunkins back in the pond, we've now had 6" trout fingerlings growing in both tanks for about two months. I'm mainly looking for additional information on raising indoor trout.
